One week to go for early birds

We wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and a wonderful rush into the new year, on behalf of the entire organisation committee of the Genghis Khan Festival. New year means we are halfway in the cycle before the next edition: time to join the many hundreds who have signed up already and enjoy early bird discounts!

The 9th edition of the Mountainbike Adventure and the Grassland Marathon run will as usual take place the first weekend of July in Xiwuqi, an ethnic Mongolian town about 150km away from the nearest airport gateway, which is Xilinhot. The event has become increasingly international with participants coming in from every corner of the world. However, it is also fantastic to see the boom in local Chinese and Mongolian participants in the past years. The grasslands appeal to everyone!

To keep everything under control in what remains of course a remote and rather small town, the organisation committee has been setting maximum registration limits, and thanks to the opening of new hotels in town we are happy to increase that limit to 1800 (from 1300 in 2014). Nevertheless, everyone is recommended to sign up as soon as you can, as we received more than 2000 applications for the 2014 event.

The traditional format will be retained in 2015, i.e. a 3-day stage race for mountainbikers, preceeded by a prologue time trial on Friday morning, and a breathtaking Grassland Marathon (and half marathon + 11km) run on Saturday morning. You can also again do it all, and challenge for the crown of the King of the Grasslands.

We are currently discussing a few novelties for 2015 as well, both sporting and leisure-wise. You will hear more about these in the weeks to come, so stay tuned to this website (subscribe to our RSS feed) and social media channels (weibo, facebook, weixin).
