Genghis Khan Extreme Marathon 2011 concludes today in in the vast Xiwuqi grassland, 1 of the most beautiful prairies in Inner Mongolia, China on July 2. The most eye-catching man’s 42km golden medal went to domestic runner, Liu Yong in 2 hours 45 minutes and 45 seconds while Jennifer Mary-Anne Graham from Canada snatched woman’s 42km champion in 4:10:47.
The second stage of Xiwuqi's Genghis Khan MTB Festival was dominated by Team Triace rider Feng Kuan Gao, who attacked in the very first kilometre and would never be seen again until after the finishline. A small group of protagonists tried to bridge the gap, but the other Team Triace competitors did a superb job in blocking every counterattack. Eventually, after 41km of racing in
Shanghai-based Team Triace took three out of three last Sunday with victory by Wang Lei in the 82km longest stage of the 2011 Genghis Khan MTB Festival. The former HolyBrother rider was the fastest of six in the final sprint in front of a large crowd at the centre square of Xiwuqi town.Sun and a bright blue sky greeted the mountainbike competitors for their final stint in the Xiwuqi grasslands
On Friday afternoon, 1 July 2011, the fifth Genghis Khan MTB & Grassland Extreme Marathon Festival started with the traditional opening ceremony in the central square of Xiwuqi. Immediately afterwards, the participants for the mountainbike 3-day stage race lined up at the start for Stage 1: a choice between 53 km and 23km, with both races finishing at Menggu Hancheng (Mongol Imperial City).

Great news coming from the Mongolian plains in Xiwuqi. The 6th edition of the Genghis Khan MTB & Grassland Marathon Festival, scheduled for 29 June to 1 July 2012, will get a modified design and new trails for both runners and bikers! Highlights are the one big loop of 42, 195km in the grasslands for the marathon run, and a 102km long final stage of the mountainbike stage race on Sunday.
Register now for the 6th edition of the Genghis Khan MTB Adventure, a unique 3-day stage competition for everyone in China's Inner Mongolia region. Total distance in 2012 will amount to 200km, with the last stage alone featuring a brand new epic 102km track. Shorter distances are available on each day for the less ambitious.
